"It has been designated one of the more rugged machines, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 55 degrees centigrade and is completely dust resistant. This stretches to security as well..."
Karim Beerahee
The XE is a service standard machine, it is not a system designed for domestic use, marketed to fit in medical carts, kiosks, and for the use of cashiers. To cope with just about any atmosphere for use it has been designed as a rugged machine, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 55 degrees centigrade and it is also completely dust resistant. This stretches to security as well; it is fully stocked with measures to prevent web-crime and hacking with full disk encryption and chassis intrusion alerts.
What we like best
The OptiPlex line has been released to pioneer for greener technologies, all the systems in this range are rated Energy Star 5.0 and EPEAT Gold graded, as a practical comparison the XEs run at 88% power efficiency.
Dell is also one of the more viable options for consumers since their network of manufacturers and support teams are global.
As an in-work environment machine the XE has the Go Anywhere mounting design capability, this pretty much means that it can be embedded on a wall, the underside of a desk etc. This is a great feature to build your workplace in to a professional arena especially with the added branding option, which allows your company name to be embossed on the desktop with or without the Dell insignia.
What we like least
As a fully configurable system there is very little to complain about with the XE’s components, you can choose the strengths of the system as you need them. Memory, graphics, ports and connectivity are all catered for; one of the complaints that may be voiced is the lack of raw processing power. Intel i5 and i7 processors would be an extravagance for such a machine and put to waste the processors available are tried and true anyway.
The Dell OptiPlex machine is a thoroughly well specialised machine, available in a general desktop configuration and a small form factor version as well. It is a reliable work tool that is secure against environmental factors and malevolent attacks on the software.
Dell has outdone themselves with an eco-friendly system adequately powerful enough for work purposes that is reliable and safe.

Dell Optiplex XE is a non-domestic use small form factor computer. I hesitate to call it a PC since there is very little personal about it. It is designed specifically for professional use, formatted for medical carts, kiosks and cashiers the Dell Optiplex XE is truly no nonsense.
Dell Optiplex XE
Dell Optiplex XE is part of Dell’s business line Optiplex, but these computers are not the cold efficient machines I have quite painted them to be. The Dell Optiplex XE is a pioneer of green technology, so Dell are looking to the future by assisting the environment through energy efficiency.
As the Dell Optiplex XE is such a specialised machine the sister computers of the OptiPlex line come in a variety of formats up to the full sized desktop computer. For up to the minute computing capabilities the Dell Optiplex XE can be upgraded upon purchase with the latest Intel processors.
