Acer Aspire 7741
Let’s get this straight: This is an entertainment machine. The Acer Aspire 7741 is built for those who want to plug in their headphones and listen to music, watch some television or a movie. The wide 17.3 inch screen has crisp wide viewing angles so you can watch with a friend, and HD audio will give you excellent sound. The Acer Aspire 7742 has the power to keep you streaming online videos with minimal lag. The combination of an Intel i5 core processor and 4 GB RAM is ideal for downloading and, provided your broadband is up to speed, you’ll be able to game at full strength too.

Acer Aspire S3-951 Ultrabook
Acer’s first foray into the ultrabook market, the S3 series already has legs; we expect to see a few more models to be released in 2012. The Acer Aspire S3-951 is a great machine in its own right, though - razor thin, snappy-looking and powerful to cap it all off. This laptop can be bought with a 244 GB SSD hard drive, which is a hefty load of memory for a machine weighing just 1.3 Kg. This ultrabook has a super-quick boot up time from resume mode: a mere 1.5 seconds, and you can get back to work in the blink of an eye.

Acer Aspire 5943G
This particular model is one of our highest rated Acer machines. The Ethos range contains elite, svelte laptops that used to come at a price, but with the ultrabook market growing, they are fast diminishing in cost so you can get a very good deal with the Ethos 5943G. This laptop offers the lot: you’ll get masses of storage space and a powerful Intel i5/i7 processor. For video and audio playback, Acer off you a Dolby-optimised sound system and Blu-ray capability for a premium entertainment experience. You can make the most of the 15.6 inch screen with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics card, which is powerful enough to get some gaming done on the sly.

Acer Timeline 5820T
For the best In terms of performance and mobility, you need look no further than Acer’s TimelineX series. The 5820T is an early model, and there are more due for release later this year, but this laptop is very good value for money right now. Its keyboard is reminiscent of the Lenovo ThinkPad style so you’ll be able to type away unhindered while carrying out office work or hammering out a blog post. The rest of the machine is subtle in its design, with a focus on sophistication rather than glamour, which in our opinion is a classier way to go anyway. We like that the TimelineX 5820T comes with an optic drive as well - too few portable machines have the capacity to play DVDs.

Acer Aspire 5750 (Black)
All-purpose laptop, thy name is Aspire 5750. This is a wallet-friendly computer that’s serviceable for moderate use. It performs excellently across the board: it scores high in the memory, processing power and battery consumption departments. It also has a respectable port selection including HDMI and USB 3.0 slots. In short, this Acer laptop is the one for you if your budget isn’t huge but you don’t want to cheap out on your next laptop choice either. The Aspire 5750 makes for an excellent lounge laptop to do a bit of idle surfing, watch a movie or get your head down to do a little bit of work on.
